France captain Kylian Mbappe was honored for reaching 100 international appearances during a ceremony where head coach Didier Deschamps presented him with a special commemorative jersey, marking a milestone moment for the forward. The French national team shared the presentation on X, stating, "Welcome to the Centenarians Club, @KMbappe received from the hands of Didier Deschamps a very special jersey to honour his 100 caps in Bleu."

The celebration also recognized a historic coaching milestone for Deschamps. With 17 wins in the FIFA World Cup, he became the coach with the most victories in the competition's history. The French Football Federation posted on X, "RECORD HISTORIQUE! With 17 wins in the World Cup, Didier Deschamps has become the coach with the most victories in the history of the competition." FFF president Philippe Diallo presented a commemorative jersey to Deschamps during the ceremony.
France's Dominant Group Stage
France emerged as one of the standout teams in the 2026 World Cup group stage, winning all four matches, scoring 13 goals, and conceding only two. The attacking trio of Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, and Bradley Barcola combined for 12 of those goals, showcasing formidable firepower ahead of the knockout rounds.
Focus on Paraguay Round of 16 Clash
Despite their impressive form, both Mbappe and Deschamps emphasized the need to avoid underestimating Paraguay in Saturday's Round of 16 encounter in Philadelphia. Mbappe, who scored twice in France's 3-0 victory over Sweden, said, "I'm fully aware of what's at stake, where I am and what I have to do. The team know what they have to do here as well. A new competition IS starting." Deschamps warned against complacency, noting Paraguay's achievement in knocking out Germany. "I've watched Paraguay: what they have achieved is no accident," he said.
