The KSS inter-school two-day girls chess championship for Zone B concluded on Saturday at Harmilap Mission School in Kanpur. UP Kirana Seva Samiti Balika Vidyalaya emerged as the overall winner with an impressive 18 points. Sri Ram Public School, Kidwai Nagar, secured the second position with 13 points, while Dr Virendra Swarup Education Center claimed third place, also with 13 points.
Prize Distribution Ceremony
After the final round, trophies were awarded to the top three schools by chief guest Ved Prakash Bhatia, along with Amarjeet Bhatia, president of the host school, manager Minu Gosain, and director. The event celebrated the achievements of young chess players from various schools in the region.
Top Performers Recognized
Dilip Kumar Srivastava, secretary of the District Chess Association, announced the names of board performers who were felicitated by the principal. The recognized students include Simran Ja from Florets International School, Riteema from Army Public School, Ananya Dubey from Puranchandra Vidya Niketan, Anshika Shukla from Archies Hr Sec School, and Nivriti Mehrotra from Doon Int School.
The championship witnessed competitive matches and showcased the talent of young female chess players in the Kanpur region. Such events encourage the growth of chess at the school level and promote intellectual development among students.
