Novak Djokovic powered past Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday night to advance to the third round of Wimbledon for the 20th time. The Serbian legend, chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title and his first since the 2023 US Open, dominated from start to finish in a match lasting one hour and 38 minutes.
Dominant Performance from Djokovic
Djokovic produced 33 winners against just seven unforced errors and did not face a single break point on his serve. He broke Tsitsipas's serve three times, sealing the match with a classy lob that landed perfectly inside the baseline. The victory improved his head-to-head record against the Greek to 13-2, according to ATP official statistics.
Tsitsipas, currently ranked 87th due to injuries and inconsistent form over the past few seasons, struggled to find his rhythm against Djokovic's relentless pressure.
Djokovic Reflects on His Form
In his on-court interview, Djokovic expressed satisfaction with his performance. "You feel very happy, satisfied and joyful on the court when you are playing this way," he said. "Once you get the momentum going. That game, when I went 5-2 up, was one of the best return games I have played in a while. I just went for my shots. I was a bit more relaxed, a little less tension in my head."
Next Opponent: Arthur Rinderknech
Djokovic will face Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the third round. Rinderknech advanced after his own victory earlier in the day. Djokovic's all-round sharp outing on grass suggests he is peaking at the right time as he aims to add another Wimbledon trophy to his collection.
