Brazil equalizes before halftime
Brazil responded quickly, equalizing in the 38th minute through a well-worked team move. Vinicius Junior crossed from the left, and Richarlison directed a header into the net past Japan goalkeeper Kosuke Nakamura. The goal restored Brazil's composure as they went into halftime level.

The decisive moment came in the 67th minute when Gabriel Martinelli latched onto a through ball from Neymar, cut inside his marker, and slotted the ball into the far corner. The Arsenal forward's strike proved to be the winner, as Brazil held on despite late pressure from Japan.
