Tekion Backs Young Tennis Stars Through Sports Excellence Partnership
Tekion, an AI-native automotive platform company, has joined forces with the Sports Excellence Trust. This partnership aims to provide crucial financial support for promising young tennis players in India. The initiative centers on the Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru.
Supporting Future Champions
The collaboration will directly assist two talented athletes: Srikar Doni, aged 17, and Saumya Ronde, aged 19. Both players currently train under the expert guidance of tennis legend Rohan Bopanna. They receive coaching at the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy, which operates within the CSE facility.
Tekion's support covers essential training and travel expenses for these young competitors. This financial backing comes at a critical stage in their developing careers.
Addressing Tennis Funding Challenges
Shyamsundar Pani, Vice-President of the Sports Excellence Trust, highlighted a significant issue in Indian tennis. "Unlike other sports that receive federation support, tennis remains largely self-funded during early stages," Pani explained. "Many talented players end their careers prematurely due to financial constraints."
The Trust actively identifies players demonstrating both potential and skill. Through corporate social responsibility donations, they provide necessary financial assistance to keep these athletes in the game.
Creating Tangible Impact Through CSR
Aravind Gowda, Senior Director at Tekion, emphasized their approach to corporate social responsibility. "Our CSR philosophy focuses on creating real, on-ground impact," Gowda stated. "Partnering with a legend like Rohan Bopanna ensures these young players receive world-class mentorship that matches their ambitions."
This partnership represents a strategic investment in India's tennis future. By supporting athletes under Bopanna's guidance, the initiative bridges the gap between talent and opportunity.
Player Profiles and Tournament Participation
Srikar Doni hails from Karnataka and currently competes in Boys' Under-18 Singles tournaments. Saumya Ronde participates in ITF Singles events, testing her skills on the international circuit.
Both athletes will receive phased support throughout the partnership. This structured approach ensures sustained assistance as they progress in their tennis careers.
The collaboration between Tekion and SET demonstrates how corporate partnerships can transform athletic development. By addressing financial barriers, they enable young talents to pursue their sporting dreams without compromise.
