Tata Motors is preparing to launch the updated 2026 Tiago in India, with the hatchback expected to debut on May 28. The company has released a 'Block Your Date' teaser, hinting that the facelifted Tiago will be the first among several refreshed Tata models planned for the Indian market.
Position and Competition
Currently the most affordable hatchback in Tata Motors' lineup, the Tiago competes with the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and Maruti Suzuki Swift. Spy shots have revealed numerous design changes.
Exterior Design Updates
At the front, the Tiago facelift is expected to feature a slimmer grille, redesigned headlamps, and a sharper bumper, giving it a more aggressive stance. The side profile remains largely unchanged, though new multi-spoke alloy wheels may be introduced. At the rear, revised LED taillamps, a redesigned tailgate, and updated bumper styling are anticipated. Some spy images suggest a connected taillight setup. New exterior paint options are also likely.
Interior and Features
Inside, the updated Tiago will receive a redesigned dashboard and a refreshed centre console with gloss black inserts. The feature list is expected to expand, potentially borrowing from the Punch's equipment. The outgoing Tiago already offers a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, cruise control, automatic climate control, a cooled glovebox, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The facelift may add a fully digital driver's display and a 360-degree camera.
Powertrain Options
Mechanically, the Tiago facelift will continue with existing petrol and CNG options. The Tiago iCNG produces 75.5 hp and 96.5 Nm of torque and retains its dual-cylinder setup. Notably, the Tiago remains one of the few cars in India offering an AMT gearbox with a CNG powertrain. Tata Motors will likely unveil only the combustion-powered Tiago facelift initially, with the updated Tiago.ev following in the coming months. The electric version is expected to receive similar styling and feature upgrades and may offer a larger 30 kWh battery pack.
