In two separate operations, the Amritsar Rural Police seized a substantial quantity of heroin and arrested an individual found in possession of an illegal firearm. The actions underscore ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and illegal arms possession in the region.
Heroin Consignment Recovered in Attari
During a routine patrol, a team from the Gharinda police station received specific intelligence regarding a suspicious yellow packet near a house in the Shiv Nagri locality of Attari. Acting promptly on the tip-off, the police recovered the packet and discovered it contained 4.379 kg of heroin. The contraband was seized following prescribed legal procedures, and a case has been registered under Sections 21(c) and 61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Arrest with Illegal Firearm in Ajnala
In a separate operation, a police patrol near Bhakha Tara Singh village on the main road leading to the newly constructed national highway intercepted a youth walking along the roadside near Gujjapir village. The individual was identified as Sagarpreet Singh, a resident of ward No. 15, Ajnala. During a frisking, police recovered an illegal .30-bore pistol along with a magazine from his possession. He was taken into custody, and a case under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act has been registered.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are underway in both cases. The police are working to trace the source of the heroin and determine whether the accused in the arms case has any links to criminal networks. The Amritsar Rural Police have intensified patrolling and intelligence-gathering operations to prevent further illegal activities.
