Trichy: Representatives from 53 higher educational institutions participated in a management meet organized by the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII-TN) under the Department of MSME at the Anna University Regional Campus in Trichy on Friday.
Programme Highlights
The programme was conducted as part of the Tamil Nadu Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (TNYIEDP). It brought together heads and representatives of arts and science, engineering, polytechnic, agricultural colleges, and ITIs.
Key Address by Dean
Addressing the participants, T Senthilkumar, Dean of Anna University campus in Trichy and District Hub Coordinator of TNYIEDP, highlighted the institution’s long-standing association with EDII-TN. He noted that the campus had functioned as the regional hub for Trichy, Karur, Perambalur, and Dindigul districts between 2018 and 2022, and has been serving as the Trichy district hub since 2023.
Senthilkumar stated that more than 200 entrepreneurship and innovation programmes had been conducted through the hub, with efforts focused on nurturing at least one entrepreneur from every affiliated institution. He emphasized that the growth of incubation centres in and around Trichy had strengthened the startup ecosystem by providing students with mentoring, funding opportunities, and market access.
Call for Faculty Engagement
He also urged faculty members to make use of initiatives such as the innovation voucher programme to support innovation-driven ventures and facilitate the commercialisation of research outcomes.
