A 38-year-old puncture repair shop owner lost his life after an air compressor tank exploded at his roadside shop in Satna district's Chitrakoot area late on Friday evening. The incident occurred in Rajola, near the Hanuman temple under Chitrakoot police station limits.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Ram Naresh, who operated a small puncture repair shop. According to police, he had been working since early morning and was alone at the shop when the explosion took place.
Sequence of Events
Initial investigations suggest that Ram Naresh inadvertently left the air compressor pump running. When he realized his mistake, he approached the compressor to turn it off. However, before he could do so, the tank suddenly exploded, inflicting fatal injuries. He died instantly at the scene.
Contrary to earlier reports, no customers or motorcycle owners were present at the shop at the time of the incident, and no other individuals sustained injuries.
Police official Girija Shankar Vajpayee stated, "The incident took place late on Friday evening. The air compressor tank exploded when the mechanic, who owned the shop, went to switch it off. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and investigations are ongoing."
Investigation Underway
Authorities have launched a probe to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Investigators are examining whether a technical fault in the compressor or negligence in handling the equipment contributed to the accident.
Police are also looking into the maintenance history of the compressor and any safety protocols that may have been overlooked.
