Amazon Launches 100+ Urban Fulfillment Centers for Faster Delivery Ahead of Prime Day 2026
Amazon Urban Fulfillment Centers: 100+ Facilities for Faster Delivery

Amazon has announced the launch of more than 100 specialized Urban Fulfillment Centers aimed at offering four times more selection over thousands of essentials already available on Amazon Now. Ahead of Prime Day 2026, these centers will provide customers access to a wide range of products including apparel, electronics, jewelry, shoes, luggage, watches, wireless items, musical instruments, furniture, and more, in addition to groceries such as fruits and vegetables, frozen food, personal care, fashion and beauty products, small appliances, baby products, pet supplies, and healthcare supplements.

Expanding Infrastructure for Faster Delivery

Urban Fulfillment Centers are larger-format facilities that augment the existing micro-fulfillment center network, bringing four times the assortment to customer homes in minutes. This rapid expansion is part of Amazon’s investment of over Rs 2,800 crore to strengthen associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing measures while enhancing its operations network.

Ashray Centers for Delivery Associates

As part of these efforts, Amazon has established Ashray centers—dedicated rest points for all delivery associates, regardless of the company they work for—at high-footfall locations. These centers offer amenities such as air-conditioned seating, drinking water, washrooms, charging stations, and first-aid kits. Amazon recently announced plans to expand the Ashray network from 100 to 250 centers in 2026.

Building on Amazon Now's Expansion

The launch of Urban Fulfillment Centers builds on Amazon Now's previously announced expansion to 100 cities with more than 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers. This adds a new layer of infrastructure designed to significantly expand selection while maintaining fast delivery speeds. These centers will progressively launch in cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India, APAC, Middle East, Africa, and Turkiye, stated: “Customers appreciate the speed, convenience, and selection available on Amazon.in.
