Apex Legends Season 29: Overclocked Arrives with Fresh Content
Apex Legends Season 29, dubbed Overclocked, is set to launch on May 5, 2026, at 10 AM PT across all regions worldwide. This update brings a wealth of new features to the battle royale, including a brand-new legend named Axle, a revolutionary Deathbox Respawn system, and numerous gameplay improvements. Players can expect a revitalized experience with these changes, which aim to shake up the meta and enhance the overall flow of matches. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of all the major additions and adjustments coming with the Overclocked patch.
New Legend: Axle (Skirmisher Class)
Passive - DRIFT: Axle accelerates faster than other legends while sliding and gains increased lateral control, making him highly maneuverable on slopes and during evasive actions.
Tactical - NITRO GATE: Axle deploys a speed gate that propels anyone passing through it into a boosted, high-velocity slide lasting up to five seconds. This affects both teammates and enemies, offering strategic utility for rapid repositioning or disrupting opponents.
Ultimate - KICKSTART: Axle fires an enemy-seeking drone that tracks targets, detonates to launch them into the air, briefly stuns them, and leaves them vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
Level 2 Upgrades: Players can choose between a second Tactical charge or a second Ultimate charge.
Level 3 Upgrades: Jump Gate adds a double-jump to the Nitro Gate, while Sliding Shooter allows bullets fired while sliding to pull from inventory instead of the magazine, enabling sustained fire during slides.
New Gameplay Systems
Deathbox Respawns: Teammates can now be revived directly at their deathbox in 7 seconds. This process is loud and visible to enemies, but respawned players automatically recover any unlooted gear. A lockout timer increases with each death to prevent abuse.
Respawn Beacon Dropship: The dropship arrival time has been shortened for faster re-entry, while hover time after respawn has been increased to give players more time to orient themselves.
Chained Healing: Players can now queue the next healing item before the current one finishes. Three settings are available: Off, Single, and Auto, allowing for customized healing efficiency.
Legend Balance Changes
Vantage (Buffed): Tactical velocity increased, double jump range extended from 4m to 7m, and cooldown reduced from 20s to 17s. Ultimate gains a toggleable Canted Sight (2x optic), and the default normal scope is increased from 3x to 4x. Tracking a team with Spotter's Lens now generates 70% of an ultimate bullet.
Conduit (Buffed): Split Charge is now part of the base kit, granting two charges by default. Regen duration reduced from 9s to 6s, cooldown adjusted to 27s, and cooldown delay removed.
Ash (Buffed): Passive cooldown reduced from 12s to 10s, and passive velocity increased from 425 to 450.
Alter (Nerfed): Tactical cooldown increased from 20s to 25s. Ultimate range decreased from 300m to 250m, recall time increased, and Chase Portal open time reduced from 6s to 4s.
Weapons and Loot Adjustments
Hemlok Breach AR: Breach Charge cooldown increased from 15s to 25s; now disperses gas and smoke on detonation.
L-STAR: Enters Care Package with damage increased from 19 to 20, and a new Redline Hop-Up is added.
C.A.R. SMG: Returns to floor loot. Galvanic Gavel Hop-Up removed, and magazine sizes slightly increased.
Light Ammo: Stack size reduced from 72 to 60.
Gold Weapons: The Gold Weapon rotation now includes Devotion LMG, Hemlok Breach AR, Alternator SMG, Charge Rifle, and Wingman.
Map Changes
Storm Point: Tridents have been removed.
Olympus: Tridents have been removed.
Broken Moon: Most rotational POI-to-POI Ziprails have been removed; intra-POI Ziprails remain. Two Redeploy Balloons added to the west side, and two new rotation paths have been added.
Matchmaking Updates
Solo queue adjustments will roll out later this split, allowing solo players to matchmake against slightly lower-skill opponents in both Ranked and Unranked modes. Longer max queue times for high-skill lobbies are maintained to reduce mismatched games. Limited bot testing continues in select regions for Unranked modes; bots will never appear on your team.
Quality of Life and Audio Improvements
Individual voice chat volume controls have been added for each squad member, and voice chat clarity has been improved. The Firing Range now includes an Infinite Healing Toggle, Self-Revive Toggle, and a Rebuild Hardlight Button. CPU performance has been improved on physics calculations, particularly benefiting Ryzen X3D chip users. Ambient Occlusion is cleaner with new specular occlusion added.
This covers all the essential details from the Apex Legends Season 29 Overclocked patch. Stay tuned for more updates and enjoy the new season!
