CM Yogi Flags Off 48 Green Buses for Noida, Greater Noida

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 45 electric buses and 3 hydrogen fuel cell buses on Friday, marking a significant step toward green mobility in the state. The buses will operate on routes connecting Noida, Greater Noida, and the upcoming Jewar International Airport, as well as areas under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Green Mobility Initiative

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Chief Minister emphasized the state's commitment to sustainable transportation. "Every city and village in Uttar Pradesh will be connected through green mobility electric services," he said. He also inaugurated the Noida Electric Bus Depot, which will serve as a hub for the new fleet.

Expansion Plans

The government plans to have 110 electric buses operational by June 15, with the fleet potentially expanding to 500 buses based on demand. The initiative aligns with the state's broader goal of reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly public transport.

The hydrogen buses, a first in the region, use fuel cell technology that emits only water vapor, making them zero-emission vehicles. The electric buses are equipped with modern amenities, including GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, and panic buttons for passenger safety.

This development is part of the Uttar Pradesh government's push for cleaner mobility solutions ahead of the 2026 Global Investors Summit. Officials stated that the buses would improve last-mile connectivity to the Jewar Airport, which is expected to become operational soon.
