Anjali and Naman, a corporate couple who moved from the city to Manali for remote work, have revealed that they now save over Rs 30,000 every month without even trying. They share their journey on Instagram at @anjali.aur.naman.
Unexpected Savings from Relocation
In a viral video, Anjali explained that the couple never intended to cut costs. "We didn't move here to save money; we moved here to experience slow travel while keeping our corporate jobs," she said. However, the shift led to significant financial benefits.
The largest saving came from housing: their monthly rent dropped from Rs 45,000 in the city to Rs 28,000 in Manali, saving Rs 17,000. Eliminating daily commuting expenses saved another Rs 3,000 per month. Routine urban spending on office dinners, coffee runs, and snack breaks reduced by approximately Rs 7,500.
Weekend Travel Costs Eliminated
An unexpected saving came from weekend getaways. While living in the city, the couple regularly spent Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 each month on short trips to escape the hustle. After moving to Manali, surrounded by mountains, they no longer felt the need for such excursions.
Anjali emphasized that saving money was never the goal. "We didn't choose remote work to spend less; we chose it to live differently. The saving was just a bonus," she said.
Social Media Buzz
The video has resonated with thousands, sparking discussions about the hidden costs of urban living and the financial advantages of remote work. It highlights a growing trend of professionals moving to smaller towns for better work-life balance.
