The Erode North police apprehended a man on Thursday for possessing contraband drugs valued at Rs 1 lakh, intended for illegal sale near a private college in Erode. The accused has been identified as A Kalaiselvan, a 30-year-old resident of Muniyappan Kovil Street in Manickampalayam, Erode district.

Operation Details

Acting on a confidential tip regarding the illicit sale of narcotic pills in the vicinity of the college, a special police patrol team was dispatched to the area. The officers maintained surveillance and observed Kalaiselvan behaving suspiciously. Upon interception, a search led to the seizure of 3,000 restricted pharmaceutical tablets from his possession.

Legal Proceedings

A case was registered against Kalaiselvan under relevant sections of the law. He was subsequently produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. Police officials have reiterated that strict action will continue against individuals involved in such offenses.
