Gurugram: Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a woman he met through a dating app under the false promise of marriage, officials said on Wednesday.
Complaint and Arrest
The woman filed a complaint on Tuesday, alleging that the man established physical relations with her on the false promise of marriage and later refused to marry her. Based on her complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 50 police station, police said.
The accused, identified as Gaurav, was arrested late Tuesday night from Gurugram by a police team. He is employed with a private company in the city. His mobile phone has been recovered and he is being questioned, a Gurugram Police spokesperson said.
Investigation Underway
Police are investigating the matter further. The accused was produced before a local court and sent to police custody for further interrogation, officials added.
This incident highlights the risks associated with online dating platforms, where individuals may be deceived under the pretext of romantic relationships. Authorities urge users to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities.
