The Indian Navy has commenced the online application process for the Agniveer (Apprentice) recruitment 2026, covering the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. Eligible unmarried male candidates can submit their applications through the official website, joinindiannavy.gov.in. The registration window opened on June 5, 2026, at 10 am and will remain active until June 29, 2026, at 5 pm. This recruitment drive is specifically for diploma holders in Engineering and Electrical streams.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have passed the Matriculation examination with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board. Additionally, they should have completed a three-year diploma course from an All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)-recognized polytechnic institute with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Eligible diploma disciplines include Marine Engineering and Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Power Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and related fields.
Age Limit
For the Agniveer (Apprentice) 01/2027 Batch, candidates must be born between December 1, 2004, and May 31, 2009 (both dates inclusive). For the 02/2027 Batch, the birth date range is May 1, 2005, to October 31, 2009 (both dates inclusive).
Selection Process
The recruitment process begins with Stage I, the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) 2/2026, scheduled for August 2026. This computer-based examination comprises 100 objective-type questions, each carrying one mark. The paper is available in both English and Hindi and includes sections on English and General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, and Diploma Trade-Specific subjects. The test duration is one hour. Candidates shortlisted through INET will proceed to Stage II, which includes a Physical Fitness Test (PFT), a written examination, and a recruitment medical examination.
Physical Fitness Test Requirements
Candidates must complete a 1.6-kilometer run in 6 minutes 30 seconds. They are also required to perform 20 squats, 15 push-ups, and 15 bent-knee sit-ups.
Application Fee
Applicants need to pay an examination fee of ₹550 plus 18% GST. The fee can be paid online via net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI.
Salary and Benefits
Selected Agniveers will receive a starting monthly package of ₹30,000 in the first year, with annual increments during the four-year engagement period. They are also entitled to risk and hardship allowance, dress allowance, and travel allowance. Under the Seva Nidhi scheme, candidates will receive a one-time corpus amount at the end of their four-year tenure. Agniveers will also be provided with non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 lakh during their service period.
