iQOO 16 Cancelled as Company Shifts Focus to iQOO Z11 for India
In a surprising move, iQOO has officially cancelled the iQOO 16 smartphone, which was previously expected to launch in India later this year. Instead, the company has confirmed the India launch of the iQOO Z11, a mid-range device that aims to capture the growing demand for affordable 5G smartphones. According to iQOO India CEO, the decision was made after careful market analysis and feedback from consumers.
iQOO Z11 India Launch Details
The iQOO Z11 is set to launch in India in the coming weeks, with the company teasing a few key specifications. The device will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor, ensuring smooth performance for gaming and multitasking. It will feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing vibrant colors and fluid scrolling. The smartphone will pack a 5000mAh battery with 66W fast charging support, allowing users to charge from 0 to 50% in just 15 minutes.
Expected Camera and Software
On the camera front, the iQOO Z11 is expected to sport a triple rear camera setup led by a 64MP primary sensor, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, there will be a 16MP front camera housed in a punch-hole cutout. The device will run on Android 14 with iQOO's FunTouch OS 14 on top, offering a clean and customizable user experience. iQOO has also promised two major Android updates and three years of security patches.
Pricing and Competition
While the official price is yet to be announced, the iQOO Z11 is expected to be priced around Rs 25,000 in India, positioning it against rivals like the Realme 12 Pro, Redmi Note 13 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy A35. iQOO has confirmed that the Z11 will be available exclusively on Amazon India, with early bird discounts and no-cost EMI options for buyers. The cancellation of the iQOO 16 has left some fans disappointed, but the company believes the Z11 offers better value for the Indian market.
Industry Reaction and Market Impact
Analysts have noted that iQOO's shift in strategy reflects the intense competition in the mid-range segment, where features like fast charging and high-refresh-rate displays are becoming standard. "The iQOO Z11 is a well-rounded device that could disrupt the segment if priced aggressively," said a senior analyst at Counterpoint Research. With the cancellation of the iQOO 16, iQOO is betting big on the Z series to drive volumes in India, a key market for the brand.
