Nagpur witnessed widespread student protests on Wednesday as various organisations staged separate demonstrations over the alleged paper leak in the NEET-UG 2026 examination and other irregularities. The protesters demanded strict action against those responsible and called for greater transparency in the examination system.
ABVP Protests at Samvidhan Chowk
Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gathered at Samvidhan Chowk to protest against the cancellation of the examination and alleged lapses in conducting the national-level test. A large number of students participated in the demonstration, raising slogans seeking justice for aspirants. ABVP national secretary Payal Kinake stated that repeated 'paper leaks' and examination irregularities were destroying the dreams of lakhs of students. She demanded strict punishment for those involved in the alleged paper leak and called for a fair, time-bound investigation by central agencies. The organisation also urged the government to strengthen the national examination system through better technological safeguards to ensure transparency, accountability, and security.
Youth Congress Protest at Badkas Chowk
The Nagpur City Youth Congress organised a separate protest at Badkas Chowk. Students, youth workers, and residents raised slogans against alleged corruption and paper leaks in competitive exams. Led by city Congress leaders, including Atul Kotecha, protesters accused the government of failing to protect students' futures and warned of intensified agitation if strict measures were not taken to curb examination-related malpractices.
