Portal Glitches Disrupt Transport Services in Telangana

Technical glitches in the Centre’s Sarathi-Parivahan portal disrupted transport services for two consecutive days, affecting applicants and bringing work at Regional Transport Authority (RTA) offices across Telangana to a standstill.

The portal, operated by the Union ministry of road transport and highways, faced issues on Monday and continued to witness intermittent disruptions until the problem was rectified by Tuesday evening.

According to transport officials, the Sarathi portal experiences peak traffic between 10 am and 2 pm, when a large number of users access the system simultaneously. Heavy traffic, software updates, data migration and network maintenance activities are among the factors that occasionally lead to server-related issues.

The disruption affected key services, including learner’s licences, permanent driving licences and vehicle registrations. Applicants who had booked slots in advance and reached RTA offices early in the day were forced to wait for hours as the system remained inaccessible.

Several candidates who appeared for driving track tests also faced inconvenience as biometric authentication could not be completed, and records were not updated online, resulting in the postponement of tests. RTA offices across the state reported delays in processing applications, as almost all services linked to the Sarathi platform were impacted.

Joint transport commissioner M Chandrashekar Goud said the technical problem had been completely resolved by Tuesday evening and services had resumed normally. He added that all RTA offices would function as usual and applicants could avail services without interruption from Wednesday onwards.
