In a significant operation, the Pratapgarh police successfully recovered and returned 170 lost mobile phones to their rightful owners on Tuesday. The total value of these recovered devices is estimated to be around Rs 33.15 lakh. This initiative was prompted by numerous complaints lodged by citizens regarding missing phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.
Police Intensify Drive Against Mobile Theft
Superintendent of Police (Pratapgarh) Deepak Bhukar informed the Times of India that the Pratapgarh police have intensified their efforts to recover lost or stolen mobile phones. Joint teams from the cyber cell and surveillance units are actively working together to locate and retrieve these devices.
Methods Used for Recovery
The police employed a combination of advanced techniques to identify and recover the phones. Key evidence included call detail records, CCTV footage, location tracking, and data from the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. These tools enabled the authorities to trace the devices and ensure their safe return to the owners.
The recovered phones were handed over to the complainants during a formal event, bringing relief to many who had reported their devices missing. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any lost or stolen phones immediately to the CEIR portal to facilitate quick action.
This operation underscores the commitment of the Pratapgarh police to leveraging technology for public service and crime prevention. The success of this drive is expected to encourage more citizens to come forward and register their complaints, aiding in further recoveries.
