The Emmy-winning comedy series 'Schitt's Creek' is making a comeback to streaming platforms in India, giving fans a fresh destination to follow the chaotic and emotional journey of the Rose family. Starting June 5, the show will stream exclusively on Lionsgate Play. Known for its sharp humor, heartwarming family dynamics, and iconic lines such as 'Ew, David!' and 'fold in the cheese,' the series chronicles the once-wealthy Rose family after they lose everything and are forced to relocate to a small town they had previously purchased as a joke.
Schitt's Creek on Lionsgate Play from June 5
'Schitt's Creek' will check into Lionsgate Play in India on June 5. This update comes after the show disappeared from streaming platforms, leaving fans searching for where to rewatch the comfort sitcom. The series follows the Rose family, including Johnny Rose, Moira Rose, David Rose, and Alexis Rose, as they adapt to life far removed from their luxury past. Johnny attempts to keep the family united; Moira brings her dramatic flair and signature wigs; while David and Alexis gradually learn about adulthood, friendship, and love in a town they never expected to call home.
The story begins with a financial collapse but evolves into a narrative about family, identity, love, and belonging. Its humor stems from the Roses' struggle to comprehend ordinary life, but its lasting appeal lies in the genuine connections they forge in their new environment.
Eugene Levy and Dan Levy on 'Schitt's Creek'
Eugene Levy revealed that the idea originated with his son, Dan Levy. 'It all began when Dan came to me with this idea, and his creative touch can be seen all across the show,' he shared. He added, 'At its heart, the series is really about a family coming together and learning how to be a family again in such close quarters. As a father, my biggest focus in the show is trying to keep my family together through this crisis that they're having.'
Speaking about Catherine O'Hara, Eugene said, 'Catherine is a really great actress, and what she brings to her role here comes from the kind of creative position of an actress, not somebody in comedy necessarily. She's also amazingly funny and so versatile and so chameleon-like.'
Dan Levy described the show as a story of self-discovery. 'Schitt's Creek is really a show about a family discovering who they are. It's a slice of social commentary wrapped in comedy, with characters who all come in with the best intentions,' he said. He also praised O'Hara's work as Moira. 'Catherine had such a sharp understanding of who Moira is and isn't, and for us, it's been really great to sit back and watch her bring this character to life in ways that we had never even imagined. She's truly a jewel of an actress.'
Dan added that David and Alexis share a unique bond despite their differences. 'Alexis is a very social person, and David is more of a homebody,' he said. The series stars Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy, Noah Reid, Emily Hampshire, and Chris Elliott.
