US telecom giant T-Mobile USA, through its subsidiary TMUS Global Solutions Technology, has inaugurated its first global capability centre (GCC) outside the United States in Hyderabad. The new facility, located in Hitech City, spans over 2.5 lakh square feet and is expected to employ around 1,000 professionals by 2027.
Rapid Onboarding of Talent
According to sources, the company has already onboarded more than 500 employees at the centre within a short period. The Hyderabad GCC will function as a strategic innovation hub within T-Mobile's global network, focusing on software engineering, DevOps, product development, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, and next-generation digital solutions.
Strategic Innovation Hub
The centre has been designed as a globally integrated technology and innovation hub. It aims to drive capabilities across software platforms, cloud technologies, data, artificial intelligence, automation, cybersecurity, and enterprise digital transformation. The primary focus is on developing scalable technology solutions that support operations and enhance customer experience.
Chandra Gupta, Vice President of IT Operations at TMUS Global Solutions, stated that the company chose Hyderabad for its combination of technology talent and a well-established innovation ecosystem that aligns with T-Mobile's long-term goals. He added, "Our global technology centre in Hyderabad will play an important role in strengthening our engineering and digital capabilities while enabling teams to build solutions that support our customers and business priorities."
Government Support and Ecosystem
Inaugurating the facility, Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu commended the rapid onboarding of skilled professionals, calling it a testament to Hyderabad's ability to offer scale. He remarked, "When they committed to building from Hyderabad, we promised them access to the best technology talent in the country. Today, seeing them onboard hundreds of skilled professionals and establish one of their fastest-growing centres in such a short span is a strong validation of Hyderabad's ability to deliver world-class talent at scale."
The minister highlighted that Telangana has built a diverse, high-value GCC ecosystem over the past two years, with local engineers working across various sectors and technologies. He noted, "Our talent today is not limited to one sector or one technology. Engineers and innovators from Hyderabad are solving complex challenges across telecom, AI, life sciences, semiconductors, BFSI, retail, and several other industries. Telangana has created the right ecosystem for global companies to come here, scale quickly, and build technologies that create impact across the world."
Hyderabad's Growing GCC Landscape
The new GCC of TMUS Global Solutions adds to Hyderabad's diverse GCC landscape, which now hosts over 450 GCCs employing more than 3 lakh professionals across multiple sectors.
