Twitch has announced a suite of new features for creators, viewers, and monetization at TwitchCon Europe 2026 in Rotterdam. Key updates include support for 2K streaming, AI-generated stream summaries, automated clip creation, and expanded sponsorship opportunities for Affiliates. The company also confirmed that TwitchCon Europe 2027 will take place in Berlin on May 22-23.
Key Features Unveiled
The updates were unveiled during Twitch's keynote presentation, where the company outlined plans to improve content discovery, viewer engagement, and creator earnings across the platform.
2K Streaming and Dual Format Broadcasts
Twitch will roll out 2K (1440p) streaming to all Partners and Affiliates in June through its Enhanced Broadcasting technology. The company is also increasing bitrate limits to up to 9 Mbps for 1440p streams and 7.5 Mbps for 1080p streams. Another major update is Dual Format streaming, which allows creators to broadcast simultaneously in horizontal and vertical formats. Mobile viewers will receive a full-screen vertical viewing experience, while desktop users can continue watching in the traditional horizontal layout.
AI-Powered Stream Summaries
Twitch introduced a new AI-powered stream summary feature designed to help viewers catch up on ongoing broadcasts. The summaries provide a brief overview of events that have occurred in a stream before a viewer joins. The company additionally plans to expand live notifications, including alerts when creators switch games, bring on guests, or reach milestones during a broadcast.
Automated Clip Creation and Monetization Tools
The company announced Auto Clips, a feature that automatically generates captioned clips from streams by analyzing chat activity, vocal inflection, and on-screen events. Twitch said streamers using Auto Clips are more likely to have shareable content available after a broadcast. The feature is expected to enter beta in the coming months. Automatic captions for community clips will begin rolling out next week, allowing creators to edit caption text, timing, and style. Twitch is also exploring additional clip-editing features such as automatic cropping and trimming.
On the monetization side, Twitch expanded several creator-focused programs. Open Invite campaigns under Creator Sponsorships will now be available to both Partners and Affiliates through the Bounty Board system. The platform also plans to introduce the Mythic Train, a new version of Hype Trains that rewards contributors with temporary golden emotes usable across Twitch. The company further revealed upcoming GIF support in chat for Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscribers, in partnership with GIPHY, while the "Gift Em All" feature will allow users to give subscriptions to up to 1,000 eligible viewers simultaneously.
Additional Updates
Twitch also said Eurozone creators will soon be able to receive SEPA payouts in euros without currency conversion fees, reducing earnings lost to conversion costs. The platform also announced updates to AutoMod, moderator recognition tools, and the expansion of its Unity Guild program with new Asian, Disability, and Indigenous Guilds.
