Acting on a tip-off, Padma police arrested two drug peddlers from the Chameli Jharna road area on Wednesday. The police recovered 15 grams of brown sugar and a mobile phone from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sandeep Kumar Mehta (24), a resident of Jihu village under Padma police station, and Subhash Kumar Ram (23), a resident of Barwa village under Ichak police station.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to procure brown sugar from one Rishi Kumar Mehta, a resident of Surajpura (Suji) in Padma block. The police are now investigating further to trace the source and network of drug supply. The arrest was made based on specific intelligence inputs, and the operation was conducted swiftly to curb the illegal drug trade in the region.
The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are interrogating the accused to gather more details about their operations. The recovery of brown sugar, a highly addictive substance, highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the area. The accused will be produced before the court, and further investigation is underway to identify other members of the drug network.
