Ahmedabad: In a significant boost to the city's startup ecosystem, twenty startups have been selected in the inaugural edition of the UrbanX Ahmedabad: City Innovation and Startup Engagement Programme, jointly organized by iHub and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The three-day event concluded on Thursday at iHub, marking a milestone in fostering innovation for urban challenges.

Programme Highlights

The selected startups will now advance their concepts with support from the programme. The initiative aimed to identify and nurture innovative solutions addressing key urban issues. A senior iHub official stated, 'Some verticals under which the startups pitched their ideas included sustainability, energy, GIS, AI, deeptech, ICT, sanitation and waste management, environmental health, transport, and parking, among others.'

Selection Process

The programme received an overwhelming response with 170 entries. From these, 41 were shortlisted for direct interaction with senior AMC officials, leading to the final selection of 20 startups. This rigorous process ensured that only the most promising ideas were chosen to move forward.
