Wipro Launches AI CoE for Anthropic's Claude

Wipro has announced an Applied AI Center of Excellence (CoE) focused on Claude models from Anthropic. The IT major plans to train 10,000 front-line delivery experts on these AI models over the next 18 months. The company said the initiative aims to help enterprises adopt AI technologies at scale while integrating Claude-powered capabilities across its services and platforms.

New CoE Inaugurated in Bengaluru

The new CoE has been inaugurated at Wipro's innovation hub in Bengaluru and will operate under the company's recently formed AI-Native Business & Platforms Unit. According to Wipro, the centre will focus on developing AI-powered solutions, expanding enterprise AI adoption and supporting AI integration across client environments. The program is designed to create a workforce capable of designing, deploying and managing AI-enabled systems across enterprise environments.

Wipro said the CoE will support the deployment of Claude models across the company's Wipro Intelligence stack, which includes delivery, functional and industry-specific platforms. The aim is to embed AI into business workflows across multiple sectors.

The company has also been building a network of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) trained on Claude models. These engineers work directly within client environments, combining business process knowledge with technical expertise to help organisations integrate AI into their operations.

Development Hub for AI-Native Platforms

The Applied AI CoE will also serve as a development hub for AI-native platforms and industry-focused solutions across areas including mortgage services, healthcare, airlines, manufacturing, and consumer businesses. Beyond customer-facing projects, Wipro said it plans to use Claude models across its own internal functions, including finance, human resources and sales operations.

Leadership Comments

Commenting on the announcement, Srini Pallia, CEO and managing director of Wipro, said, "Wipro is strengthening its enterprise AI leadership with the Applied AI Center of Excellence for Claude models, powered by Anthropic. This marks a fundamental shift in how we deliver, and advances our strategy of being consulting-led and AI-powered. By combining the power of Claude models with our deep domain and enterprise expertise, we are driving measurable business outcomes for our clients."

"Embedding Forward Deployed Engineers within client environments, alongside integrating AI across our own operations, enables us to accelerate enterprise-scale adoption with a clear focus on business value," he added in a blog post.

Expanding AI Adoption Across Industries

According to Wipro, the new centre brings together AI model expertise, platform integration and delivery capabilities as part of its broader efforts to expand AI adoption across industries and business functions.
