YouTube Premium subscription prices are set to increase for existing subscribers in the United States starting June 7, 2026. This price adjustment follows an earlier announcement by Google, YouTube's parent company, in April. While new subscribers immediately faced higher charges, existing users were granted a grace period that ends with their June billing cycle.
New YouTube Premium Prices
This marks the first price hike for YouTube Premium services in the US since 2023. Monthly subscriptions are rising by up to $4 per month. The updated pricing structure is as follows:
- YouTube Premium Individual Plan: Now $15.99/month, up from $13.99/month.
- YouTube Premium Family Plan: Now $26.99/month, up from $22.99/month.
- YouTube Premium Lite Plan: Now $8.99/month, up from $7.99/month.
- YouTube Music Premium: Now $11.99/month, up from $10.99/month.
This increase follows several recent price adjustments. The YouTube Premium Family plan previously increased from $17.99 to $22.99 per month in 2022. Individual plans rose from $11.99 to $13.99 in 2023. The lower-cost YouTube Premium Lite subscription, available for about a year, is also affected. This tier recently gained features such as background play and offline downloads.
YouTube notified subscribers via email last month, stating: “To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to $15.99/month [or the relevant plan price]. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.”
Subscribers should check their accounts and billing statements to determine the exact date their new monthly fee will take effect, as this depends on their personal June 2026 billing date.
