Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Delhi Airport
New Delhi/Bengaluru: An Air India flight operating on the Bengaluru-Delhi route made an emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday night following an engine fire warning. All 180 passengers and crew members onboard deboarded safely, according to airline sources.
The incident occurred when the pilots of the Airbus A321 received a fire warning just before landing, around 9:30 PM. The fire was extinguished after the aircraft touched down. The plane was subsequently towed from the runway to a remote parking bay. A team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated a probe into the matter.
This emergency landing comes just hours after another Air India flight on the Delhi-Bengaluru route suffered a tail strike at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru earlier in the day. In a statement regarding the Delhi incident, Air India said that the crew followed all standard operating procedures and landed the aircraft safely at the airport.
The airline has assured that necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
