Apple's upcoming AI-powered version of Siri could use Nvidia's advanced AI chips running through Google Cloud, according to a new report from The Information. The report suggests that Apple may combine Google's Gemini AI models with Nvidia's powerful infrastructure instead of relying entirely on its own systems. The development comes as Apple prepares to unveil upgraded Siri at its annual developer conference – Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026.
Apple may use Nvidia's Blackwell chips to handle AI workloads
The report states that Apple will use Google's fleet of Nvidia Blackwell B200 chips to process these AI requests. The Blackwell B200 is Nvidia's flagship data center GPU designed for training and running large AI models. “Specifically, Apple will tap into Google’s fleet of Nvidia’s Blackwell B200 data center chips, said the people. Apple will enable Nvidia’s confidential compute feature that encrypts data as it’s being processed on the chips,” The Information report said.
Built on the company's latest Blackwell architecture, the chip offers major improvements in performance, memory bandwidth and AI processing compared to earlier generations. These chips are expected to help power the advanced AI features Apple plans to bring to Siri.
Privacy and security measures
To protect user data, Apple is reportedly enabling Nvidia's confidential computing technology. According to the report, Apple's Siri requests processed through Google Cloud will use Nvidia's confidential compute feature, which encrypts data while it is actively being processed by the GPU.
“... as part of an Apple agreement with Google, some user queries to a new version of Siri will run in Google Cloud on a licensed version of the search giant’s Gemini model. Apple recently approved the use of a privacy technology from Nvidia in that setting, suggesting it will use Nvidia AI chips for at least some of its computing needs in Google Cloud, according to people familiar with the matter,” a previous report by The Information stated.
Nvidia explains that the technology "preserves the confidentiality and integrity of AI models" and allows sensitive workloads to run securely, even in cloud environments.
Questions remain about Private Cloud Compute
The report notes that it is still unclear how Apple's own Private Cloud Compute infrastructure will fit into the upgraded Siri experience. Apple introduced Private Cloud Compute as part of its Apple Intelligence platform, promising secure cloud-based AI processing without compromising user privacy.
