Call of Duty Mobile to Get New Battle Royale Map and Gulag Return
Call of Duty Mobile New Map and Gulag Return Confirmed

Call of Duty Mobile is poised to introduce fresh content soon, including a new large-scale battle royale map and the return of the Gulag. According to Insider Gaming, Jeff Gullet, co-head of Call of Duty Mobile at Activision, confirmed these additions during the inaugural episode of Inside CODM. While specific details remain scarce, Gullet hinted that further announcements could be made during the game's anniversary season later this year. This update follows the recent release of Eternal Prison, the fourth season of 2023, as developers at Activision and TiMi Studio Group continue to expand battle royale content amid the game nearing two billion global downloads.

New Battle Royale Map on the Horizon

When asked about a potential new battle royale map, Gullet confirmed that additional content is under development but refrained from disclosing specifics. He stated, “The short answer here is yes, for sure. But here’s the thing. We’ve just released Rebirth Island, and we’re committed to expanding battle royale, so I can’t say anything today, but I will say that we might have more to share during our anniversary season later this year.” This suggests that Activision is working on a large map to offer more diverse gameplay options beyond current maps like Rebirth Island.

Return of the Gulag

Another confirmed feature is the return of the Gulag, a one-versus-one elimination system that allows eliminated players to re-enter the match. Gullet confirmed, “Yes, it is. I can’t say much more right now, but I can give you a definite yes, it is coming back.” He added that the decision was influenced by player feedback after the feature was removed. “Gulag is a great example of us hearing community feedback and adjusting accordingly. It was a big change from our dogtag revival system, but we saw a lot people disappointed when we removed it. I’d encourage everybody to let us know, not just the things they want to see changed, but also let us know the things that you like.”

What to Expect Next

Activision has not yet confirmed the release schedule for Inside CODM episodes, but the format may serve as a key source for upcoming map details, gameplay changes, and seasonal updates. For now, players may need to wait until the anniversary season for more information on the new battle royale map and the Gulag's return. Call of Duty Mobile continues to roll out new maps, events, and modes through seasonal updates, with battle royale remaining a central attraction.
