The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow has officially launched its Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics programme, designed for higher secondary graduates. This new undergraduate offering provides a unique pathway for students to transition into a Tech-MBA programme, which is scheduled to commence in the academic year 2027-28, after successfully completing the third year of the BS programme.
Admission Details and Eligibility
The institute has opened applications for the inaugural batch, which will accommodate 60 seats. Admissions will be determined based on academic performance and qualification in the JEE Advanced examination. Candidates who have completed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2025 or 2026, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects, and have qualified JEE Advanced are eligible to apply.
Application Schedule
Applications opened on June 4, 2026, and will remain available until July 3, 2026, at 11:59 pm. The first admission list is scheduled for release on July 10, followed by a second list on July 23, and a third list on August 3, if necessary. Reporting and registration will take place on August 17, while classes are set to begin on August 18.
According to the institute, students who complete three years of the BS programme may be considered for transition into the proposed Tech-MBA programme, creating an integrated dual-degree academic pathway. A relaxation of 5 per cent in qualifying marks will be available to candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories, in accordance with Government of India norms.
Curriculum and Learning Approach
The programme integrates artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, analytics, and responsible AI with business and management education. The curriculum includes areas such as data warehousing, data structures and algorithms, big data computing, cloud computing, computer vision, deep learning, machine learning deployment, business analytics, and data visualisation. Students will also have access to the institute's AI ecosystem, including specialised laboratories focused on business intelligence, linguistics, computer vision, digital transformation, and social AI.
Career Prospects and Industry Readiness
IIM Lucknow stated that the programme has been designed to prepare students for emerging roles across sectors including technology, consulting, financial services, e-commerce, healthcare, manufacturing, and public sector organisations. Potential career pathways identified by the institute include AI Engineer, Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Business Analyst, Product Analyst, and Analytics Consultant. The programme aims to combine technical expertise with management education, supported by the institute's industry engagement and corporate network.
The BS in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics programme was launched earlier this year by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and marks IIM Lucknow's entry into undergraduate education focused on AI and analytics.
