Mark Cuban Forecasts AI Will Lead to Shorter Workweeks With Same Pay
Billionaire entrepreneur and Shark Tank judge Mark Cuban has delivered an optimistic prediction for employees at companies embracing artificial intelligence. He suggests that widespread AI adoption could significantly reduce working hours while maintaining current compensation levels, as AI tools enhance productivity and automate routine tasks.

Sharing his perspective on social media platform X, Cuban proposed that organizations might begin formally shortening the workday as AI agents become more deeply integrated into daily workflows. He acknowledged that remote work arrangements have already blurred traditional office schedules, but companies could implement structured policies that reduce working hours by at least five hours per week.
Cuban framed this as a fundamental shift in how companies recognize and reward productivity, writing on X: "Smart, bigger companies will enable their employees to create and use agents (within security guardrails), improve their productivity but MOST IMPORTANTLY, they will reduce their work day by an hour to start. Same pay. Reward people doing the daily with more time."
He added that while work-from-home arrangements might dilute some of this effect, establishing shorter workdays would set an important tone within organizations about valuing employee time alongside output.
