Elon Musk Makes Historic Davos Debut, Shares Tesla and AI Vision

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk marked a significant milestone with his first-ever appearance on the stage of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Addressing a packed conference hall at the global gathering he has previously criticized as a "boring" confab of out-of-touch elites, Musk engaged in a high-profile interview that captured global attention.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink Hosts Musk at Prestigious Forum

The interview was conducted by BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, who introduced Musk with glowing praise. Fink remarked, "There are so many myths around Elon Musk. I could tell you he is a great friend, and I constantly learn so much from him. I am totally inspired by what he has done... Who he is... His vision of the future, and I don't think it's such a bad future." Musk set a lighthearted tone ahead of his appearance, tweeting, "Speaking @wef in 20 mins. What should I say?"

Tesla's Full Self-Driving System Nears Key Regulatory Approvals

During the discussion, Musk provided crucial updates on Tesla's driver-supervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. He announced that Tesla is likely to secure regulatory approval in Europe and China as early as next month. "We hope to get Supervised Full Self-Driving approval in Europe, hopefully next month, and then maybe a similar timing for China," Musk stated. This development comes as Tesla aims to boost software revenue amid slowing vehicle sales.

FSD, classified as an advanced driver assistance feature that requires drivers to remain attentive, has faced scrutiny from regulators due to safety concerns. In Europe, tougher vehicle safety rules and a fragmented regulatory framework have slowed its deployment compared to the United States. At Tesla's annual shareholder meeting in November 2025, Musk hinted at an upcoming FSD update, Version 14, which he claimed would enable unsupervised driving. "And now with version 14, we're actually getting to the point where we almost feel comfortable allowing people to text and drive," Musk explained. "Which is kind of the killer app, because that's really what people want to do."

Humanoid Robot Sales and AI Predictions Unveiled

Beyond automotive advancements, Musk made a bold promise regarding humanoid robots. He revealed that Tesla expects to sell humanoid robots to the public by the end of next year, a timeline slightly later than previously outlined. Musk elaborated on the potential applications, saying, "Who wouldn't want a robot to watch over your kids, take care of your pet... If you had a robot that could take care and protect an elderly parent, that'd be great."

He added that Tesla's Optimus robots will be performing more complex tasks later this year, with public sales anticipated by the end of 2026. Musk also shared his predictions on artificial intelligence, forecasting that AI models will surpass human intelligence by the end of this year or no later than next year. "I think we'll be selling humanoid robots to the public by the end of next year," he affirmed, highlighting the convergence of robotics and AI in shaping the future.

This appearance at Davos not only showcased Musk's evolving stance on global forums but also underscored his commitment to pushing technological boundaries in electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and robotics.
