NEET-UG Paper Leak: Doctor, Tutor in CBI Custody for 5 Days

A Delhi court on Wednesday remanded a paediatrician from Latur and a Physics tutor to five days of CBI custody in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. Special Judge Vidya Prakash granted the Central Bureau of Investigation's request for further custodial interrogation of the two accused, Dr Manoj Shirure and Tejas Harshadkumar Shah. Both individuals are scheduled to be produced before the court on June 1.

Details of the Arrests

According to officials, Dr Shirure is alleged to have assisted three students in obtaining Chemistry questions from NEET paper setter P V Kulkarni. One of these students is reportedly the son of Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, who operates Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC) in Maharashtra's Latur and has already been arrested in the case. The CBI also arrested Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, a Physics teacher at Dr Abhang Prabhu Medical Academy, for his alleged involvement. Investigators claim that Shah received leaked Physics questions for NEET-UG 2026 from another arrested accused, Manisha Havaldar.

Rise in Arrests

Officials confirmed that the total number of arrests in the paper leak case has now increased to 13. Earlier this month, the National Testing Agency cancelled the NEET-UG examination held on May 3 following allegations of a paper leak. The re-examination has been scheduled for June 21.
