Noise has introduced its second-generation smart ring, the Luna Ring Gen 2, which leverages artificial intelligence to stand out in the increasingly competitive connected ring market. The device uses machine learning to offer workout advice and assist with nutrition decisions. With the smart ring market more crowded than ever, the Luna Ring Gen 2 aims to earn a place on your finger. We put it through its paces to find out if it delivers.
Design and Build Quality
The Luna Ring Gen 2 from Noise makes a strong impression with its premium build and refined aesthetics. Crafted from titanium, the ring features non-allergic moulding on the inside where the sensor bumps are located. It strikes a good balance between durability and lightweight design, ensuring it can withstand daily wear while remaining comfortable. Noise has made the ring 10 percent slimmer than the original Luna Ring, and its sleeker profile makes it less obtrusive on the finger. Five colour options are available: Stardust Silver, Lunar Black, Sunlit Gold, Midnight Black, and Rose Gold. The ring stands out visually thanks to its ripple-effect finish on the titanium surface, which adds subtle texture and differentiates it from plain metallic rings. It is water resistant up to 50 meters, making it suitable for swimming and showering. However, the green LEDs of the optical heart rate sensor flash sporadically at night, which may irritate light-sensitive sleepers. The titanium surface is also prone to scratches. Overall, the Luna Ring Gen 2 balances style and functionality.
The portable charging case complements the ring's design philosophy. Instead of the charging plinth from the first generation, the new case resembles those used for earbuds or the Samsung Galaxy Ring. It is made of acrylic, ABS plastic, and aluminium alloy with rubberised ring-shaped feet. The top is polished metal, while the inside has a mirror-like material. The indicator lighting inside the case forms a ring around the charging area, serving as a charge level indicator. When the ring is out of the case, the LEDs show the case's battery level; when the ring is placed inside, they display the ring's battery level.
Features and Performance
The Luna Ring Gen 2, made from fighter jet-grade titanium with a PVD coating and inner ring moulding, tracks over 70 health metrics, including sleep stages, heart rate, activity levels, stress, and menstrual health. Unlike competitors such as the Oura Ring, it operates on a subscription-free model, offering all insights and features without ongoing fees. The ring integrates AI-driven coaching that provides personalised suggestions for workouts, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments based on collected data. The sensor array continuously monitors metrics like heart rate, activity levels, and recovery trends, though heart rate accuracy is not as strong as rivals like the Oura Ring 4 or Samsung Galaxy Ring. For sleep and readiness tracking, the Luna Ring Gen 2 performs reliably. The portable charging case enhances usability, allowing on-the-go recharging without a dock.
The Luna Smart Ring Gen 2 app is easy to use, responsive, and informative, tracking everything from sleep to activity. Available on the Play Store and App Store, the interface is well organised and quicker to update than the first generation. It is sleek, minimalistic, and intuitive, ensuring even first-time users can navigate health insights. Standout features include detailed sleep and readiness tracking with personalised recommendations. AI-driven coaching integrates seamlessly, offering tailored suggestions for workouts, nutrition, and recovery. The app supports real-time syncing, allowing users to check metrics instantly after waking up or completing a workout. Notifications are subtle and non-intrusive, encouraging healthier habits without becoming a distraction.
Performance is mixed but generally positive. Sleep tracking is a strong point, providing accurate insights into sleep stages and overall rest quality. The ring consistently delivers reliable data on sleep duration, restorative quality, and readiness for the day. The readiness score helps users gauge whether their body is prepared for intense activity or needs rest, translating raw health data into actionable advice for fitness enthusiasts. However, heart rate monitoring shows limitations, with accuracy lagging behind competitors. Battery life is not a strong point; during testing, the ring delivered around four days on a single charge. This is decent but less than some other smart rings, meaning more frequent charging and planning to avoid downtime. To offset this, Noise includes both a charging dock for home use and a portable charging case. The case, compact and capsule-shaped, allows recharging while traveling and uses a magnetic alignment system to ensure the ring sits securely.
Verdict
Priced at Rs 24,999, the Luna Ring Gen 2 from Noise is a good smart ring that addresses several pain points from the first generation. It is 10 percent slimmer, and the app feels quicker to update. Sleep tracking is more precise, likely due to improved sensor accuracy. The Luna Ring Gen 2 delivers solid value for users who want core health insights without ongoing fees. It is not the most advanced smart ring on the market, but it succeeds in offering a balanced mix of design, convenience, and everyday health tracking.
