Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta announced that the police department will establish a round-the-clock cyber war room to address the increasing number of cybercrimes and handle complaints from victims at any time. The DGP made this statement on Saturday while inaugurating the new website of the Vizag Police Commissionerate in Visakhapatnam.
AI-Based Cyber Monitoring and Helpline Integration
The DGP revealed that the department is planning to set up an AI-based cyber monitoring system. Additionally, the 1930 Helpline will be integrated with the RTGS system to streamline complaint handling. Some officers will receive specialized training in cybercrime investigation to effectively tackle virtual crimes.
Commando Team's National Triumph
The DGP visited the Greyhounds Campus and congratulated the Andhra Pradesh Police Commando Team for their outstanding achievement in winning four prestigious trophies at the 16th All India Police Commando Competition (AIPCC). The competition was held at the National Security Guard (NSG) Training Centre in Manesar, Haryana, where elite commando teams from 15 state police forces and 9 central armed police forces participated.
Displaying exceptional courage, endurance, tactical expertise, and operational excellence, the Andhra Pradesh Police Commando Team emerged as one of the top-performing teams in the country. The team secured the Best State Police Commando Team Trophy, Hardliner Trophy, Black Hawk Trophy, and Rann-Neeti Trophy.
Recognition and Felicitation
The DGP stated that this remarkable accomplishment reflects the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, advanced training, and combat readiness maintained by the elite Greyhounds and Octopus Commando units of Andhra Pradesh Police. He appreciated the extraordinary dedication and performance of the AP Police Commando Team and felicitated the participating commandos by presenting the DGP Commendation Disc and Certificates – 2026, along with cash rewards, in recognition of their exemplary service and achievement at the national level.
The DGP also appreciated IGP (Operations), Ch. Srikanth, and other officers of Greyhounds and Octopus for their dedicated leadership and guidance in achieving this national glory. He further expressed confidence that such achievements would continue to inspire the police force and strengthen the reputation of Andhra Pradesh Police across the nation.
