Cyber Fraudsters Exploit Cockroach Janata Party Popularity, Police Issue Warning
Cockroach Janata Party Used for Cyber Fraud, Police Warn

The growing popularity of the satirical digital campaign "Cockroach Janata Party" (CJP) has now become a tool for cyber fraudsters, prompting the Hisar police and cyber cell to issue a public advisory warning people against fake membership links circulating on social media platforms.

Phishing Scam Targets Users

According to police officials, cybercriminals are sharing misleading messages on WhatsApp and other social media platforms, asking users to "Join Cockroach Janata Party" or "Click the link to become a member." Authorities said these suspicious links are part of a phishing scam designed to steal sensitive personal and banking information.

Police stated that once users click on the fraudulent links or share OTPs while filling out fake membership forms, hackers gain access to their mobile phones, banking details, passwords and personal data. In several cases, victims have reportedly suffered financial losses, unauthorised withdrawals and even fraudulent loans taken in their names.

Police Advisory and Safety Measures

Hisar superintendent of police Siddhant Jain appealed to the public, especially youngsters, to remain cautious while using social media. He advised people not to click on unknown or suspicious links and warned against downloading any application or filling out forms in the name of the so-called Cockroach Janata Party.

The police further urged citizens to immediately report any cyber fraud to the National Cyber Helpline number 1930. Authorities also appealed to social media users to verify the authenticity of viral messages and strictly follow cyber safety guidelines to avoid falling prey to online scams.

Cyber safety experts recommend the following precautions:

  • Do not click on unsolicited links or download attachments from unknown sources.
  • Never share OTPs, passwords, or personal information through links or forms.
  • Verify the legitimacy of viral campaigns through official sources.
  • Report suspicious messages to cyber crime helpline immediately.

The misuse of the Cockroach Janata Party's popularity highlights the need for heightened awareness among social media users. The Hisar police continue to monitor the situation and urge citizens to stay vigilant.
