Cuncolim Woman Loses Rs 2 Lakh to Cyber Fraudsters

A woman from Cuncolim fell victim to cyber fraudsters who impersonated Delhi Police officers and Google Chrome representatives, resulting in a loss of Rs 2 lakh. The complainant, Supriya Dessai, a resident of Culwaddo, Cuncolim, reported to the police that on April 22, unknown individuals contacted her and falsely claimed to be officials of the Delhi Police and representatives of Google Chrome.

Threats and Intimidation

The police stated that the accused criminally intimidated Dessai by threatening that an FIR and arrest warrant would be issued against her unless she paid the demanded amount. Acting under the fear instilled by the fraudsters, Dessai transferred approximately Rs 2 lakh to different bank accounts and UPI IDs provided by the accused.

Legal Action

The case has been registered under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations are ongoing to trace the perpetrators and recover the stolen funds.
