UT Chandigarh Cyber Cell Hosts Cybersecurity Workshop at PM Shri School
In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, the UT Chandigarh Cyber Cell took a proactive step by organizing a crucial workshop under the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program. This session was specifically designed for the faculty of PM Shri KV, located in Sector 31, Chandigarh, aiming to enhance their awareness and preparedness against cyber threats.
Expert-Led Session on Digital Vigilance
The workshop was conducted by a specialized team of cybersecurity experts, including Urvashi Nag, an Expert from CENCOP, along with Head Constable Vikas Kumar and Constable Naveen Kumar. Upon arrival, the team was formally welcomed by Subhash Chand, the principal of the venue, setting the stage for an informative and engaging session.
During the workshop, the experts emphasized that vigilance and alertness serve as the first line of defence on any digital platform. They highlighted the importance of staying cautious in an era where digital footprints are expanding at an unprecedented rate, making individuals more vulnerable to cyber attacks.
Practical Insights into Cyber Threats
Moving beyond theoretical discussions, the team shared a series of curated videos that vividly illustrated the nefarious practices employed by modern hackers. These videos showcased various tactics used to lure users into digital traps, such as phishing scams, social engineering techniques, and the dangers of clicking on unsecured links.
The faculty members were briefed on the immediate steps to take if they suspect a security breach. Key recommendations included:
- Reporting the incident promptly on the national cybercrime helpline number, 1930.
- Informing the concerned bank in cases of financial fraud or suspicious transactions.
Engaging and Knowledgeable Experience
The workshop proved to be both engaging and highly informative, providing the staff with practical knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape of cyber threats. Participants gained valuable insights into recognizing potential risks and implementing effective countermeasures to protect their personal and professional digital environments.
This initiative by the UT Chandigarh Cyber Cell underscores the growing importance of cybersecurity education in educational institutions, equipping educators with the tools needed to foster a safer digital culture among students and colleagues alike.
