The Bihar government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) to strengthen electricity transmission and supply across the state. The agreement also aims to integrate power generation from the Pirpainti Power Plant into the state's energy network.
Key Objectives of the MoU
Speaking on the occasion, Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar stated that the initiative will help Bihar achieve its 2025-2030 industrial growth target by ensuring a reliable electricity supply for industries. He emphasized that consistent power availability is crucial for attracting investments and boosting economic development.
Transparent Bidding and Project Execution
Energy Secretary Ajay Yadav highlighted that the partnership will ensure transparent bidding processes, timely project execution, and improved operational efficiency. He noted that these measures are expected to reduce delays and cost overruns in power infrastructure projects.
Historic Step for Bihar's Energy Sector
RECPDCL Executive Director Prince Dhawan described the MoU as a historic step for Bihar's energy sector. He expressed confidence that the collaboration will bring advanced technical expertise and best practices to the state.
Plans for New Grid Substations
BSPTCL Managing Director Rahul Kumar revealed that the state plans to set up 47 new grid substations over the next decade to meet rising power demand. He added that these substations will enhance the distribution network and reduce transmission losses.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in Bihar's efforts to modernize its power infrastructure and support sustainable industrial growth. The integration of the Pirpainti Power Plant is expected to add much-needed generation capacity to the grid.
