Bihar Pink Bus: Second Phase of Women Driver Recruitment Soon

The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) is set to launch the second phase of registration and training for women drivers to operate its fleet of 100 pink buses across cities in the state.

Recruitment Drive Details

The corporation is expected to issue an official advertisement for the recruitment drive in the coming days. Selected candidates will undergo a mandatory 30-day training programme at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Aurangabad. The programme will include both classroom instruction and practical driving sessions to equip candidates with the skills required for public transport operations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must be between 21 and 40 years of age and possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving licence. Candidates who successfully complete the training programme will be appointed as bus drivers on a contractual basis.

Initiative Objectives

The initiative is part of BSRTC’s efforts to encourage greater participation of women in the public transport sector and strengthen the operation of its Pink Bus service. The second phase follows the successful completion of the first round of the programme, under which 12 women drivers were trained. They are currently undergoing on-road driving practice in Patna before being assigned operational duties.

Future Plans

With the next phase, the corporation aims to induct a larger number of trained women drivers and further expand the availability of women-operated bus services across Bihar.
