A massive fire broke out at an electric vehicle showroom in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday, causing panic in the area. The incident took place in the Palasia area of the city, where the showroom located on the ground floor of a building caught fire.
Fire Erupts at EV Showroom
The fire started around 11:30 am and quickly spread, engulfing the entire showroom. Thick black smoke billowed from the building, visible from a distance. Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The fire department received information about the blaze and immediately dispatched multiple fire engines to the location.
No Casualties Reported
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident. However, the showroom and several electric vehicles parked inside were completely gutted. The fire also damaged the upper floors of the building. The firefighting operation is still underway, and efforts are being made to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.
Investigation Initiated
The cause of the fire is not yet known. An investigation has been ordered to determine the exact reason behind the blaze. Preliminary reports suggest that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire. Authorities are also examining if any safety protocols were violated.
Eyewitness Accounts
Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud explosions as the fire spread. "We saw smoke coming from the showroom and soon flames engulfed it. People ran out of nearby buildings in panic," said a local shopkeeper. The police have cordoned off the area to facilitate the firefighting operations.
Fire Department Response
Fire officials stated that they received a call about the fire at 11:35 am and the first fire tender reached the spot within 10 minutes. "We deployed five fire tenders and managed to control the fire in about an hour. Cooling operations are ongoing to prevent re-ignition," said a senior fire officer.
The incident has raised questions about the safety of electric vehicle showrooms and the storage of lithium-ion batteries. Experts advise that such facilities should have adequate fire safety measures in place.
