A fire broke out at a machine tools painting unit in Udhna, Surat, during the early hours of Monday, prompting a swift response from the Surat Fire and Emergency Services (SFES). The unit was closed at the time of the incident, and no casualties were reported.
Response and Containment
Fire officials stated that a call regarding the blaze was received around 5:15 am. In response, teams from Udhna, Man Darwaja, and Majura were dispatched to the location. Firefighters worked diligently for nearly one and a half hours to bring the fire under control. The prompt deployment of multiple teams helped prevent the fire from spreading further and causing more extensive damage to surrounding properties.
Damage Assessment
Although no injuries were reported, the fire caused damage to property inside the unit. Seven computers, desks, and other materials were destroyed in the incident. The exact financial loss is yet to be estimated.
Cause Under Investigation
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, a short circuit is suspected as the primary reason. Since the unit was shut at the time, no employees or workers were present, ensuring no one was harmed. An SFES official confirmed, 'The exact cause is yet to be ascertained, though a short circuit is suspected. Since the unit was shut, no one was injured.'
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the precise origin of the fire and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
