Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Monday announced that hydraulic parking facilities would soon be developed in Shimla to ease traffic congestion and improve parking availability.

The project, part of a comprehensive urban development plan worth Rs 1,200 crore, will be implemented at around 15 identified locations across the capital city. Addressing the closing ceremony of the 14th District ITI Women's Sports Meet at ITI Chaura Maidan, the minister said the initiative would play a crucial role in streamlining traffic management in the hill town.

The cabinet minister added that the Union government has assured prompt approval for priority projects once detailed project reports (DPRs) are submitted. These projects include decongestion of busy areas, development of hydraulic parking systems, underground utility infrastructure, and planned urban townships on the lines of Kangra Aerocity.
