KFON, TMA, and WEN Forge Strategic Alliance to Empower Women Entrepreneurs in Kerala
In a significant move to bolster digital inclusion and economic empowerment, Kerala Fibre Optic Network Ltd (KFON) has entered into a three-year partnership with the Trivandrum Management Association (TMA) and the Women Entrepreneurs Network (WEN). This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was signed in Thiruvananthapuram in observance of International Women's Day, marking a pivotal step towards supporting women-led ventures across the state.
Enhancing Digital Infrastructure for Women-Led Startups
The primary objective of this initiative is to strengthen digital access and expand business opportunities for women entrepreneurs in Kerala. Under the agreement, women entrepreneur organizations and startups led by women will be provided with high-speed internet connectivity via the KFON network. This aims to facilitate the adoption of digital technologies, enabling business expansion and greater participation in the digital economy.
Key components of the partnership include:
- Providing reliable last-mile connectivity through KFON's digital infrastructure to support WEN's exclusive She Team.
- Conducting a series of capacity-building programs, including training sessions, workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns.
- Focusing on critical areas such as digital technologies, e-commerce, online marketing, and cybersecurity to enhance the digital skills of women entrepreneurs.
Building Capacity and Fostering Growth
The capacity-building programs are designed to equip women entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to leverage online platforms effectively. By improving their digital literacy and technical know-how, these initiatives are expected to drive business growth and innovation. Santosh Babu, principal secretary and managing director of KFON, emphasized the partnership's potential to create new opportunities for women-led ventures.
"By leveraging the state's digital infrastructure, this initiative aims to help women entrepreneurs scale their businesses and play a stronger role in economic development," Babu stated during the signing ceremony.
Formalizing the Collaboration
The MoU was signed at an event held at the TMA office in Thiruvananthapuram. The function was attended by key dignitaries, including TMA president S N Raghuchandran Nair and WEN president Resmi Maxim, along with officials and members of the participating organizations. This collaboration underscores a collective commitment to fostering an inclusive digital ecosystem that empowers women entrepreneurs to thrive in today's competitive market.
Through this partnership, KFON, TMA, and WEN aim to not only enhance digital connectivity but also build a supportive network that encourages women to take on leadership roles in the business landscape. The initiative is poised to make a lasting impact on Kerala's economic development by integrating more women into the digital economy.
