Lucknow Metro Rolls Out Advanced QR Ticketing System
The Lucknow Metro has officially launched a modern QR-based ticketing system, marking a significant step towards digital transformation in urban transportation. This innovative system enables passengers to book tickets directly from their mobile phones, providing a seamless and convenient travel experience across the entire metro network.
How the New QR Ticketing System Works
Passengers can now purchase digital QR tickets through the official Lucknow Metro mobile application, which is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms. Once generated, these digital tickets can be easily scanned at the automatic fare collection (AFC) gates, which are distinctly marked with yellow stripes for easy identification.
For those who prefer traditional methods, paper-based QR tickets are also available. These can be obtained from ticket counters and newly-installed QR-enabled ticket vending machines (TVMs) located at every metro station. To ensure smooth access for all passengers, each station has been equipped with at least one QR-supported TVM and one QR-enabled counter.
Enhanced Payment Options and User-Friendly Features
The new system integrates UPI payment options on all QR-supported machines, offering passengers a quick and secure way to complete transactions. Meanwhile, token-based facilities will continue to operate on other TVMs, maintaining flexibility for different user preferences.
To help passengers easily identify the new facilities, special QR support stickers have been prominently placed on designated machines. This visual cue is part of the metro's effort to enhance user experience and reduce confusion during the transition to the new system.
