Vadodara Railway Station Unveils Pioneering Digital Lounge and Co-Working Space

In a significant development for modern railway infrastructure, Vadodara railway station inaugurated a state-of-the-art digital lounge and co-working space on Saturday. This facility is billed as the first of its kind in Gujarat and only the second in India, following the successful model at Mumbai Central station.

A Modern Hub for Passengers and Professionals

Spread over approximately 200 square meters, the BRC Digital Lounge is designed to accommodate 60 to 65 passengers simultaneously. The lounge features a unique theme inspired by Vadodara's iconic banyan tree, blending local culture with contemporary amenities.

The facility is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, dedicated workstations, numerous charging points, and fully functional meeting and conference rooms. Additionally, it offers essential services such as printing, scanning, and photocopying, along with refreshment options for users.

Flexible Access and Pricing Plans

The digital lounge introduces flexible plans to cater to diverse passenger needs. Entry starts at Rs 200, with an additional Rs 150 charged per hour for extended workspace access. For enhanced convenience, the lounge provides shower facilities at Rs 300, smart beds priced at Rs 700 for two hours, and meeting rooms available for Rs 1,680.

Part of Broader Railway Modernization Efforts

This project is a key component of the 'Swachh Station' initiative, aimed at creating modern and hygienic infrastructure at railway stations across the country. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Raju Bhadke highlighted that the lounge is part of a larger upgrade plan, which includes the construction of four new foot overbridges expected to be completed within 18 months.

Bhadke also emphasized that improved facilities for persons with disabilities are being integrated into these developments, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity at the station.

Setting a New Standard for Railway Amenities

The launch of the digital lounge at Vadodara railway station marks a progressive step in enhancing passenger experience and supporting the growing demand for remote work and digital connectivity. By providing a productive environment for travelers, this initiative aligns with broader trends in urban mobility and infrastructure modernization.

As the second such facility in India, it sets a benchmark for other stations to follow, potentially transforming railway hubs into multifunctional spaces that cater to both leisure and business needs.
