LG Micro RGB evo Debuts at CES 2026, Set to Revolutionise LCD TV Picture Quality
LG's Micro RGB evo TV Wins CES 2026 Award

LG Electronics is poised to redefine the landscape of home entertainment with a groundbreaking announcement ahead of the world's largest tech showcase. The company has officially unveiled its first flagship RGB LCD television, the LG Micro RGB evo, which is scheduled for a grand debut at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. In a remarkable pre-show achievement, the television has already secured a CES 2026 Innovation Award, signalling its potential to change how we perceive LCD technology forever.

What Makes The LG Micro RGB evo A Game-Changer?

At the core of this innovation is a radical departure from conventional LCD backlighting. Traditional LCD TVs typically utilise blue or white LED backlights. The LG Micro RGB evo shatters this norm by employing a backlight system composed of millions of minuscule, individual red, green, and blue LEDs. LG brands this as Micro RGB Technology, claiming it represents a "significant step forward from MiniLED." This architectural shift allows for unprecedented control over colour, brightness, and contrast at a microscopic level, promising a visual experience previously reserved for OLED displays.

Powering this precision is LG's latest and most advanced chipset: the Dual AI Engine-based α (Alpha) 11 AI Processor Gen 3. This processor is not built from scratch; it leverages over 13 years of LG's OLED expertise, applying the same meticulous picture-tuning philosophy to an LCD canvas. A key feature is Dual Super Upscaling, which intelligently enhances picture sharpness while maintaining a natural and balanced image, ensuring older content looks its best.

Unmatched Colour and Contrast Performance

LG is making bold claims about colour accuracy, and they come with a certification to back them up. The company states that the Micro RGB evo panel has been certified by Intertek for 100 percent colour coverage across critical industry standards including BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB. For consumers, this translates to a wider, more lifelike spectrum of colours whether they are streaming the latest blockbuster, engaged in high-stakes gaming, or performing professional-grade photo and video editing.

Contrast management receives a substantial upgrade through Micro Dimming Ultra technology, which precisely controls over 1,000 distinct dimming zones. While some rival brands may boast a higher number of zones, LG emphasises that its OLED-inspired algorithmic precision is key to revealing intricate details hidden in the deepest shadows and the brightest highlights, creating a more dynamic and realistic picture.

An AI-Powered Smart TV Experience

The innovation extends beyond pure picture quality into the realm of user interaction. The television will operate on a refined version of LG's webOS smart platform. This ecosystem is packed with AI-driven features designed to personalise the viewing journey. Users can expect Voice ID for tailored responses, an AI Picture and Sound Wizard that auto-optimises settings based on content, and a customisable "My Page" home screen. Further assistance comes from an AI Concierge, AI Search, and an AI Chatbot, all working in tandem to simplify content discovery.

Park Hyoung-sei, president of LG's Home Entertainment Company, underscored the ambition behind this launch, stating, "Achieving the utmost visual fidelity is the goal of any display." He added that the Micro RGB evo is engineered to "redefine industry standards" for LCD televisions.

The LG Micro RGB evo (model MRGB95) will be available in three expansive screen sizes: 100-inch, 86-inch, and 75-inch. The complete specifications and, crucially, the pricing details are slated for announcement during CES 2026, where LG will showcase the product from January 6 to 9, 2026, in Las Vegas. This launch marks a pivotal moment, potentially bridging the gap between premium OLED and high-performance LCD technologies for the global market.
