Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Electric SUV Makes Its Debut in India

Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the e-Vitara electric SUV in the Indian market, marking a significant entry into the electric vehicle segment. Customers can now pre-book this EV either online or at their nearest dealerships with a booking amount of Rs 21,000, and deliveries are anticipated to commence shortly.

Competitive Landscape and Global Partnership

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara enters a competitive arena, going head-to-head with rivals such as the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Vinfast VF6, and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. Notably, the e-Vitara and Toyota Ebella represent the first fully electric models developed under a global partnership between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. While both SUVs share the same platform, they exhibit distinct differences in design, pricing, and features, setting them apart in the market.

Maruti e-Vitara vs Toyota Ebella: Price and Variants Breakdown

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is offered in three variants: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 60 kWh. Pricing starts at Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Delta with the 49 kWh battery, Rs 17.49 lakh for the Zeta with 60 kWh, and Rs 19.79 lakh for the Alpha with 60 kWh. The top-spec Alpha variant includes a dual-tone colour option for an additional Rs 22,000. As part of the launch offer, Maruti Suzuki provides a complimentary 7.4 kW AC charger with free installation.

Additionally, the e-Vitara is available with a Battery-as-a-Service (Baas) option priced at Rs 10.99 lakh, coupled with a battery EMI of Rs 3.99 per km. In contrast, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella's prices have not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to carry a slight premium over the e-Vitara. Pre-bookings for the Ebella are open with a deposit of Rs 25,000, available online or at dealerships.

Warranty and Buyback Programmes

Maruti Suzuki offers an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty on the e-Vitara's battery pack, along with a standard 3-year vehicle warranty. Buyers can opt for a 5-year extended warranty at an extra cost. Similarly, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella comes with an 8-year battery warranty and a 60% buyback assurance, ensuring peace of mind for customers.

Colour Options and Design Distinctions

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara boasts 10 colour choices, including Arctic White, Bluish Black, Grandeur Grey, Land Breeze, Opulent Red, and Splendid Silver. Most colours are available with a dual-tone roof, except for Nexa Blue and Bluish Black.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella offers five monotone shades: Cafe White, Bluish Black, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red, and Enticing Silver, along with four dual-tone options featuring a black roof paired with Cafe White, Land Breeze Green, Sportin Red, or Enticing Silver.

Design-wise, the e-Vitara and Ebella differ primarily at the front.
