Toyota Hilux 9th Generation Launch in India on July 28
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is set to launch the ninth-generation Hilux in India on July 28, 2026. The pickup truck, which has been a global best-seller, will arrive with a host of updates including a new design, dual screens, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Redesigned Exterior and Interior
The 2026 Hilux features a completely revamped exterior with a more aggressive front grille, sharper LED headlamps, and a sculpted hood. The rear gets redesigned taillights and a new bumper. Inside, the cabin now sports a dual-screen setup: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both borrowed from the Toyota Innova Hycross. The interior also gets updated upholstery and a new steering wheel.
Expected ADAS and Safety Features
For the first time in India, the Hilux is expected to offer Toyota Safety Sense, which includes pre-collision warning, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and auto high beam. Standard safety features include seven airbags, electronic stability control, and a 360-degree camera.
Powertrain Options
The Hilux is likely to retain the 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, producing 204 PS and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A 4x4 system with low-range gearbox will be available. No hybrid or electric option is expected at launch.
Price and Rivals
The new Hilux is expected to be priced between Rs 32 lakh and Rs 38 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Mahindra Scorpio N, Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, and the upcoming Ford Everest. Bookings are expected to open soon after the launch.
